The Little Engine That Could

I'm slowly making progress towards getting back to working out/ losing my baby fat.  I'm not sure why it'S taking me so long, but I do know anything I could say would only be an excuse.  I've spent a couple days the last few weeks putting on my work-out clothes in hopes it might motivate me to get there, but all that came of it was a neighbor asking me if I'd already been to the gym.  Don't worry, I didn't even lie!

I'm a bit bummed that it's just now clicking in my brain that I only have access to a FREE gym till April 13th.  Why on earth have I not got with the program sooner?  Now I'm gonna have to figure out which gym to join or how to run my jiggly bum in the great outdoors.

I will resume my usual public humiliation accountability route because it seemed to work before.

As of March 18th I weigh 144.2 lbs which means I need to lose about 20 lbs.  My goal is to lose 2 lbs per week.  At that rate I should reach my goal weight in 10 weeks.

MY PLAN:
  • Portion control, track calories, monitor food groups, and keep treats to very few, if any.
  • Start going to the gym on Monday the 25th.  We'll see how that goes!  I found that one quick workout every morning before breakfast followed by an hour workout later in the day or once everyone is in bed for the night, just about does the trick.
WHAT I'VE DONE SO FAR:
  • I've started gathering my running playlist, but feel free to shoot me your must-have songs.
  • I "splurged" and bought some new socks
  • I purchased some good second hand running shoes since my feet have grown since having #2
  • Had a friend come do my body measurements in order to track inches lost (will share later)
  • I have already cut out treats, except on special occasions. (I ate my last Nutty Bar one week ago today, and ate one brownie during ladies night last Saturday)

Now all I have to do is get going and see if my body responds the same way it did before.

  2. Chandee- I have about 13 pounds to go and I've been plateaued at that for 3 months now! So, thanks for the motivation. I've actually done pretty well with cutting out my sweets over the last few days, which is the HARDEST thing for me. I can go all day without eating sweets, but at night, it's like a stress reliever for me once everyone is in bed. So, hopefully I will see some results soon. Maybe I will try and do the double work outs during the day too, like you mentioned.

    1. I'm right there with ya! I feel like a treat is my reward for making it through the day! hahahah Totally a stress reliever. Night time is THE WORST, especially since no one is up to give me the evil eye when I go for a second Nutty Bar ;) It's been so long since I've been in this workout mode, but I think I remember that if you do a quick workout first thing in the am BEFORE you eat anything, you burn more fat. That last little bit is the devil to get rid of, but super rewarding. Good luck to you! You can do it.

  3. You shouldn't cut out treats completely- you just have to retrain your brain to think about treats differently- summer is coming so there is lots of fruit to be had and things...and there are TONS of recipes for healthy deserts and such that won't ruin your eating plan.
Workout videos are always good. There are a lot of things that you can do-Every little bit counts.

    1. I should have been more clear. I am cutting out sweets/treats as in desserts etc. With the exception of Clif Bars which I eat occasionally to help give me a quick protein boost if I'm feeling hypoglycemic. I went without any treats for several months after I had #1 and it was great to reset my palette. I've got one heck of a sweet tooth and it gets to the point that things don't even taste that rich/sweet anymore, so I eat lots more. I can't wait till warmer weather which will bring yummy fruit. Sometimes a great juicy peach is much tastier than any dessert!

  4. You got this girl. I have some AWESOME workout songs that make me run way too fast for way too long, I can pass along, ha ha! But usually I just listen to the same song over and over and over, then delete it a week later! If it inspires me, why change tracks??
